Logo Design for the Journal of Jewellery Research (JJR) and the course BA Jewellery, Materials and Design (JMD)

In 2018 I designed the logo and the template for the The Journal of Jewellery Research (JJR). I worked closely with the editors of the jounrnal to craft the visual language of the journal that would represent the community as well as fit stylistically with other academic fields in design and craft. For this endeavour, I have looked at the Journal of Modern Craft, Craft Research, Design Studies to name a few to understand their templates and logo designs. It was a great opportunity to contribute with my desin skills for this new academic initiative that celebrates jewellery and research. For the desin of the logo I used Adobe Illustrator and the for the template Adobe InDesign. I have contributed to edit the first issue and add all the papers in the template. See the logo and template on the website The Journal of Jewellery Research and take a look on the new issue.

In 2020 I have designed the logo for the BA Jewellery Materials and Design Course at SHU to embody the new identity of the course. The main concept behind the logo is that there are three different font types for each element of the course (jewellery, materials and design), however all linked together visually as a whole. For jewellery, I have picked a traditional serif fond to link to its long history and local heritage, for the materials a fond with texture to map the textures that all materials (physical + digital) have and for design a modern sans serif fond to project the new methods and design strategies that the field of design brings to jewellery.
